A doggy daycare built by people who've been around dogs for a long time.
Bernie's Pet Barn opened its doors on the Gold Coast in 1996. Three decades, a lot of dogs, and a deep working knowledge of what makes them tick later, we opened Bernie's Backyard — a dedicated daycare in the space behind the store. Drop the dog off, grab their food and treats on the way out. One trip, everything sorted.

The space
Air-conditioned. Supervised. Set up for dogs, not for show.
The whole facility is climate-controlled. Gold Coast summer is no joke and we built around that — actual ducted air-conditioning across every play zone and the rest area, not a pedestal fan in the corner.
Dogs are separated by size and play style so the big bouncy crew aren't bowling over the little ones. Every zone is supervised on the floor — not from a camera in another room. Our staff are dog people first, watching for body language and stepping in well before play tips over.
There's a proper rest area too. Daycare isn't all-day chaos. Dogs get downtime in the middle of the day so they leave tired but not wrecked.
We welcome dogs from across the Gold Coast — Bundall, Surfers Paradise, Benowa, Ashmore, Southport, Broadbeach, and everywhere in between. Puppies from 14 weeks with up-to-date vaccinations are welcome too.
